Privacy policy

VerseLuma is presentation software for churches: it shows Bible passages, song lyrics and other slides on projectors, stage screens and livestreams. This policy explains what information the VerseLuma desktop app handles and what happens to it.
In short: VerseLuma works on your computer. It does not send your information, your microphone audio or your church’s content to us or to anyone else.
Information the app handles
Your church’s content
Songs, services, notes, backgrounds, logos, links and settings that you enter or import are stored only on your computer, in VerseLuma’s data folder. We do not receive a copy. Backups you make are saved where you choose.
The microphone
If you turn on voice detection, VerseLuma listens to the microphone you choose so that it can recognise Bible references as they are spoken (for example “John chapter three, verse sixteen”).
- Speech is turned into text on your computer by the built-in speech engines (Whisper and Vosk).
- Audio and transcripts are not sent over the internet and are not recorded to disk.
- A short history of detected references may be kept on your computer to help you troubleshoot detection.
- You can turn voice detection off at any time; the app works fully without it.
Your local network
Some features share what is on screen with other devices on your own network:
- Phones and the remote: when you switch on sharing, a small web server on your computer lets phones on the same Wi-Fi follow along or control slides. A PIN protects remote control. Sharing is off until you turn it on.
- Livestream captions and NDI: the lower third can be sent to streaming software (OBS, vMix and others) on your network, or as an NDI source.
This traffic stays on your local network unless you set up your network to expose it.
Links you add
QR codes and links you add to slides (for example your church’s social media) simply open those addresses on the phones of people who scan them. VerseLuma does not contact those services itself.
What we do not do
- We do not collect personal information through the app.
- We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking in the app.
- We do not sell or share information with third parties.
If you contact us or register on our website
If you email us or register your church on the VerseLuma website, we receive the details you give us (for example your name, church name, country and email address). We use them only to reply to you, to provide what you registered for (such as additional backgrounds and Bible versions) and, if you agree, to send you news about VerseLuma. You can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete your details, or to stop sending you emails.
If you write a review on our website, we show your name, role, church, country, rating and review on the homepage after we have checked it. The email address you may add is never shown and is used only if we need to reply to you. Ask us at any time to remove your review.
Children
VerseLuma is intended for use by churches and their volunteers. It does not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date above. Significant changes will be announced on this website.
